Take Action – Tomar Medidas

You are the HOPE.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we can each make a difference in the world.  Where do we start?  How do we begin? P1150273

There are so many easy and important things that we can all do… no matter how old or young we are.  Explore!  Observe!  Work together!  Each year, Children Are The Hope participating students are asked to brainstorm simple actions they can take to help cranes.  But did you know that by helping cranes we are also helping people?  Cranes aren’t the only animals that depend upon wetland ecosystems for survival!  We do too!

What do wetlands do for us?

They give us water; help keep our groundwater clean; help prevent flooding; provide us with food; are amazing sources of recreation… What can we do to protect them?

field trip 3Children Are The Hope participants say:

“Don’t waste water… turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth and take shorter showers!”

“We could write a story about cranes and share it with our class.”

“We could draw a poster to share with our school or community.”

“We all can reduce, reuse, and recycle!”

“Don’t litter!”

“Share what we’ve learned with others.”

“Get involved with organizations that are protecting nature.”

“I can save wetlands to save the cranes.

If we save the wetlands, not only will we save the cranes, we will save lots of other insects, birds, and animals.”

~Cassidy, CATH Participant

“I can pick up garbage that I see on the ground.   I can help the world be cleaner.

I can help stop air pollution.  If I do this the world would be a better place.”

~Abby, CATH Participant

“I can help to save the cranes.  We have to save the wetlands!

Preserve the land the cranes use to save them.  The cranes are beautiful birds.”

~Emily, CATH Participant
